COULD THIS BE JUST A COINCIDENCE - OR NOT??
Is it just a coincidence that the boss of the Immigration Services, Mary Anne Thompson, who has just resigned because of “tampering with” immigration documents to allow her relatives into New Zealand has employed Helen Aikman QC to defend her? Both these people including Paul James, Director of OTS were very involved preparing and handling the Sale Agreement and Deed to acquire Mr Titford privately owned, free hold titled properties at Maunganui Bluff in 1995. The Solicitor General recently agreeing with the Ombudsman, “That there was a clerical error or errors in the handling of the documents at the time”.
The Ombudsman found these documents were “tampered with” after Mr Titford had signed them and the Crown’s appointed, instructed and paid Notary Public lawyer Mr Sam Samec had witnessed them, stating, “It may well be that the memorandum was not initialled by Mr Brown, or perhaps even seen by him, because it was not regarded as being part of the formal Agreement. The Crown’s officials perhaps did not consider it appropriate for it to be authenticated as part of the agreement in view of the comments at the end of the document. For the documents to have been initialled might have suggested agreement with the views you had stated”.
Mr Samec attached the signed and witnessed memorandum to the Sale Agreement when it was returned to New Zealand as part of the Sale Agreement. The Ombudsman found the Crown’s officials or its agents removed the memorandum and other amendments from the Sale Agreement without Mr Titford’s knowledge or authority after it had been signed and witnessed but before the Commissioner of Lands, Mr Sam Brown had seen or executed it.
The Sale Agreement becoming a “corrupt document” and the sale, “null and void”.
It is also interesting to note, David Oughton
who defended any “wrong doing” by Mary
Anne Thompson in his inquiry, was the Secretary of Justice at
the time Mr Titford’s and Harrison’s property were acquired and
was negotiating a sale of the excess land to a John H Davey, Ahead (NZ) Ltd/Adept
International (NZ) Ltd before the Crown had even acquired it. John H Davey had
discussed and promised to build a “pa” on part of the land for Te
Roroa if successful, further inflaming the tension, which already existed between
Titford, Harrison and Te Roroa.
While we are not accusing anyone of “wrong doing”, they are all
innocent until proven guilty,
