Re: Allan and Susan Titford – The Police have a lot to answer for!

For over 20 years, the One New Zealand Foundation Inc has researched the acquisition of Allan Titford's farm at Maunganui Bluff for the "alleged" Te Roroa claim, Wai 38. The Crown and the Police should be ashamed of how they treated and harassed this young innocent couple to steal their freehold titled farm.

A couple of months after Allan and Sue Titford were married in 1987, Te Roroa placed a claim on part of Mr Titford's freehold titled farm. This claim had already been rejected by Parliament in 1942 because there was no evidence to support it. For the next 7 years, the Crown, Te Roroa and the Police harassed these two young innocent victims because Mr Titford would not sell his farm to the Crown for well under its true value. The Police arresting Mr Titford on numerous occasion without reason of which he was acquitted on all charges, at times, leaving Mrs Titford on her own at night, terrified out of her mind and pleading with Police to take her with them. Two of Mr and Mrs Titford's houses were torched, machinery sabotaged, stock shot, fences cut, illegal structure erected on his property and threats against Mr Titford’s life but the Police refused to offer them protection or pursue the offenders - they arrested Mr Titford instead!

This eventually caused Allan and Sue Titford and their young family to flee to Tasmania for their own safety. Not happy with this, the Crown pursued them in Tasmania to force Mr Titford to sign an agreement offering him well under his farm's potential market value. When he would not agree to this, they then offered his brother $500,000 to declare Allan insane to become power of attorney and sign the agreement on Allan’s behalf but his brother refused. With the help of the Rural/National Bank and various other means, the Crown finally bankrupted Mr Titford and threatened to take his father's farm held as security if he did not sign the Sale Agreement. While the Ombudsman's investigation found the documents to acquire Mr Titford’s farm had been "tampered with" and the Maori Affairs Select Committee misled Parliament to allow this “alleged” claim to proceed, the Police and the 122 Members of Parliament closed a blind eye. How corrupt was that!

We have attached a brief article, "Stolen Lands at Maunganui Bluff” for your information.

With the stress the Crown and Police have continued to put Mr and Mrs Titford under for the last 20 years, there is no wonder they now have marriage problems.

While we are not getting involved in their marriage problems, the Crown and the Police have a lot to answer for in creating the situation the Titford’s now find themselves in. What do you expect from the Titfords, all they ever wanted in life was a large cattle farm and family and were well on the way to achieving both, but the Crown and the Police destroyed all this 20 years ago through no fault of theirs! We suggest you read our website, www.onenzfoundation.co.nz  where all the documented facts are provided for the world to read.

The Crown and the Police must be very proud of themselves. Just because Mr Titford stood up for his rights, they have taken his farm, his health, his family and now his wife and children! The only thing they cannot take is the paper trail left by those involved at the time, the evidence showing how the Crown and the Police harassed this young couple to steal their land. It’s out there in cyberspace for the whole world to see - it will never go away!

All Mr Titford ever asked for; "Was a farm for a farm", but the Crown was determined to destroy him for defying the corrupt decision made in 1990 by a few in power at the time with a vested interest in this “alleged” claim.

From the evidence we have, there is no denying the Crown and the Police caused the stress and marriage problems between Mr and Mrs Titford. Surely there are good, honest cops in the Police Force who will force an investigation into the harassment and stress they inflicted on this young innocent couple and have continued to this very day!

Yours sincerely,

P.S While this has been brought to the attention of the Police, they refused to act based on
the Chief Ombudsman’s political opinion – not the findings of her investigation under the
Ombudsman’s Act, which found the documents to acquire Mr Titford’s farm had been
“tampered with” by the Crown’s officials or its agents.
